Climate Action Plan

CAPReal NewEnergy completed a high-profile consulting assignment to help the District Government of Washington DC, Department of Energy and Environment to develop and implement a Climate Action Plan. This work included aligning groups of District agencies in terms of targets and processes: http://ddoe.dc.gov/

Our focus in the project involved identifying and defining mitigation measures in the built environment including providing cost benefits estimates.

The project was especially challenging as DC is part of a highly developed regional economy with over 5 million people spanning three states.  Many Climate Change mitigation and adaptation activities are already in progress and needed to be aligned beyond the DC boundaries. This constituted a significant networking challenge:

This project was executed through a teaming arrangement with 2 consulting partners:

  • ICLEI – ICLEI is an international association of local governments as well as national and regional local government organizations who have made a commitment to sustainable development. ICLEI is one of our partners in the development of the Washington D.C. Climate Action Plan:  www.iclei.org
